DC has got to rein in their portrayal of Power Girl's chest. I mean really. Just bring them back into the realm of the realistic. And get Michael Turner a cold shower while they're at it. Seriously, these breasts violate continuity in addition to being offensive. Isn't there anybody at DC with the guts to say, "okay, that's enough"?
Sad thing is, according to Brad Meltzer's MySpace Blog , this cover comes as a result of them asking Turner to reduce the size of the breasts. I hate to see what the original cover looked like. They probably blotted Black Canary out of the picture entirely.

FACT: Michael Turner has never seen a woman.
ReplyDeleteWeirdly, though, Karen's bosoms have become a kind of essential part of her character. In a world where you have Ed Benes, the Dodsons, and Nicola Scott drawing such compelling cheesecake, you have to verge on the parodic to keep up.
I'm not defending Turner's inability to draw, mind you, just saying you can't get rid of the Power Rack at this point.
Oh, I'm not suggesting getting rid of the rack. I'm just keeping withing the realm of normal bigness. What Turner has done was take Power Girl from possibly being played by Scarlett Johansson in a movie (not that said movie exists) to where she can only be played by Chesty Malone. If this continues, they will need some John Waters-like appliances just to keep up.
ReplyDeleteI've always admired Turner's seeming ability to draw with one hand.
