End to Golden-Gate

20th Century Danny-Boy, which is a great site even if they totally stole my title for this whole fiasco, posts an e-mail from all parties involved. It looks like the long intenational nightmare is finally over.

Summing up, the four fans get to either keep the art they received or get some other compensated. Golden also states that the fans were in fact given a due date which Golden missed. And that there is no malice between anyone involved.

So this will be my final post on the topic (hopefully). So these will be my final opinions on the matter.

1. I still don't think the sketch was worth $500. Not to harp on it, but it's not.

2. This whole mess could have been avoided if they just did this just as, or even before, the story broke. Instead, we get a round of message board posts from Renee and Golden stating they did nothing wrong only to be contradicted by them later in a shifty "we did something wrong but not on purpose" missive. The issue sets the internet on fire and you know that there will be some fans who will now never get a sketch off of Golden.

Of course, if  Renee/Golden were more realistic with the expected time frame in the beginning, or gave more realistic updates when asked, that would have avoided this whole thing too.
